HamRadioApp Privacy Policy
# HamRadioApp Privacy Policy
**Effective date: 15 August 2026**
HamRadioApp ("HamRadioApp", "the App", "we", "us") provides amateur-radio tools including HF propagation information, station/QTH mapping, QRZ.com callsign lookup, Global Chat and radio/control features.
This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed when you use the App.
## 1. Information and permissions
Depending on the features you use, HamRadioApp may process:
### Location
The App may request Android location permission for location/QTH and map-related functions. Location access is used only when needed for features that depend on your position or configured station location.
### Callsigns and station information
When you search for a callsign or view a station, the App may process the callsign, grid/QTH and other amateur-radio information supplied by you or returned by the relevant service.
### QRZ.com
If you use QRZ functionality, information may be sent to QRZ.com or its API to perform callsign and station lookups. If the App provides account authentication, the credentials you provide are used for that authentication. QRZ operates independently and has its own terms and privacy practices.
### Global Chat
If you use Global Chat, messages and the information required to deliver them may be transmitted to the service supporting the chat. Do not post information in chat that you do not want other users or the service operator to receive.
### Radio/control hardware
When you use supported radio or USB/control features, the App may access connected device information and communicate with the equipment as necessary to provide the requested functionality.
### Technical information
Network services may receive standard technical information required to establish a connection, such as IP address, request metadata and device/network information.
## 2. How information is used
Information is processed to:
- provide propagation and locator features;
- display maps and station information;
- perform callsign and QRZ lookups;
- provide Global Chat;
- communicate with compatible radio/control equipment;
- save settings or preferences where the App supports local storage; and
- maintain and troubleshoot the service where applicable.
## 3. Sharing
HamRadioApp may transmit information to third-party services when required for a feature you explicitly use, such as QRZ.com, map services or chat/network services.
We do not sell personal information.
Third-party services operate under their own privacy policies and terms.
## 4. Data retention and deletion
Retention depends on the feature and the service involved.
Information stored locally by the App can generally be removed by clearing the App's Android storage or uninstalling the App.
Information held by third-party services, including QRZ.com or a chat service, must be managed according to the relevant service's deletion procedures.
If HamRadioApp provides an account system in a production release, the developer should provide a clear account-deletion method and update this section with the exact procedure.
## 5. Security
We use reasonable technical measures appropriate to the App to protect information handled through our services. Network transmissions should use appropriate encryption such as HTTPS/TLS where supported.
No internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
## 6. Children's privacy
HamRadioApp is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
## 7. Third-party services
The App may rely on external services for QRZ data, mapping, chat, network connectivity or other functionality. Their handling of information is governed by their own policies.
## 8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App or its services change. The effective date will be updated when material changes are made.
